Aim Is to Give Ordinary Guys a Chance
Andes Beer and agency Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi are well-known for their creative and humorous attempts to “help” men — such as Teletransporter and Friend Recovery — and their latest stunt/ad continues the theme.
Taking as its premise the idea that good-looking Adonises spoil a night out for other, more ordinary mortals, Andes set up a casting call for hunky guys at 10pm one Saturday night in Mendoza, Argentina.
As they pose in very little clothing, the good-looking candidates are asked to read out little bits of text which, unbeknownst to them, when pieced together will explain the stunt: they are being “removed” from Mendoza’s nightlife for one evening to let the other guys have a chance with the women. Footage of the “actors” is interspersed with clips of everyone else having fun in a nightclub.
As the full realization dawns on the viewer, the film becomes funnier and funnier: the increasingly bewildered hunks are asked to move around unnecessary props and are pictured still standing in line at 2.30am in the morning. Still, one hopes that the fact they’re now in a big budget TV ad will make up for their humiliation.
