Honda, one of the top 10 passenger car brands in the world, has chosen AdsOptimal as its virtual reality content delivery partner. Honda recognizes that 360º virtual reality technology is a powerful tool to deliver engaging online content to consumers. The brand chose AdsOptimal as its partner to bring VR technology to consumers during the Honda Civic launching event on March 11, 2016, at Royal Paragon Hall at Bangkok’s Siam Paragon center, one of the largest shopping centers in Asia.
AdsOptimal has developed a cutting-edge 360º virtual reality platform which is ultra-easy to use on mobile and is ideal for large-scale consumer marketing events. During the event, Honda provided Google Cardboard VR viewing headsets to more than 1,000 participants, allowing this community of car enthusiasts to experience Honda’s virtual reality content on the AdsOptimal platform together at the same time.
Honda used AdsOptimal’s 360º virtual reality technology to engage each consumer by letting them try the new Honda Civic in VR. Each VR viewer raced a new Honda Civic against other racers at Chang International Circuit, Thailand’s first FIA Grade 1 Motor raceway which opened in 2014. While racing, players had the opportunity to appreciate the design of the Civic both inside and out – all without visiting a showroom.
After receiving Google Cardboard, participants simply used their Android or iOS phones to scan the QR code on the Google Cardboard packing box. The barcode directly links consumers to Honda’s 360º virtual reality content without installing any other applications or visiting any other mobile sites.
This successful VR consumer engagement program for the new Honda Civic also strengthened the overall Honda corporate brand by presenting Honda as an innovative leader in Thailand.
